Anaheim Ducks towel invades: Dorasan Station

Submitted by: BuckyHermit (from Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Country: South Korea
Province: Gyeonggi
City: Paju and Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
Location: Dorasan Station [map]
Status since photo:

Dorasan Station is the closest operational South Korean railway station to North Korea, with the border only about 2 kilometers away. It is in a restricted civilian zone, and access is controlled by the military; proper identification needs to be presented and there is a security screening. It is planned that if the two Koreas normalize relations (or even reunify), Dorasan Station would be used by the public as the crossing point to North Korea. Inside the station, there is even an entrance to a platform for trains bound for Pyongyang (currently North Korea's capital), as well as an immigration checkpoint (currently unused, obviously). The station's most notable visitor is George W. Bush, who visited in 2002.

This is a sensitive area and Anaheim Ducks Towel Invasions does not recommend future towel invasions of this location.

Anaheim Ducks towel invades: Imjingak

Submitted by: BuckyHermit (from Vancouver, BC, Canada)

Country: South Korea
Province: Gyeonggi
City: Paju and Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
Location: Imjingak [map]
Status since photo:

Imjingak is next to the restricted civilian access area near the North Korea and South Korea border. It is primarily a park dedicated to the Korean War and contains war monuments and memorials. It was also built partially to comfort South Koreans whose families remained in North Korea. Imjingak is home to the Bridge of Freedom, a former railroad bridge used to transport repatriated soldiers and prisoners of war from North Korea. Ironically, amidst all these serious monuments, a large amusement park lies directly east of Imjingak.
